“what an insignificant little worm you are.” -Matt LaClear
Like anyone with a blog, I was thrilled to learn that I had a fan. Well, maybe he’s a fan cause I can never tell if he’s lying or not. I’m sure you’re thinking how being called “an insignificant little worm” doesn’t sound too endearing, I believe his limited vocabulary of niceties could be the explanation.
I also believe it’s a Michigan christian expression of endearment, something to do with a Jonathan Edwards sermon. At least, that’s how I chose to take it.
Matt LaClear is an internet “guru” that I met about two years ago that was offering an ebook called MySpace Tactics to building an online business. He offered free “hand-holding” training to teach people these tactics, ok, well not really free. Once you got there, the offer kind of morphed into signing up for his personal coaching.
Anyway, I left his board, but I thought he had some interesting insights, so I remained on his mailing list. And every once in awhile I’d attend one of his training calls that he did for free.
Over the course of my time on his email list, he was always pushing some network marketing thing with free leads or squeeze pages or affiliate marketing.
Anyhow, these MLM schemes have always been a part of his many wealth building strategies. Which is why I never really pursued anything with him.
Personally, I don’t believe network marketing is anything but a scam that our ethically challenged society has embraced and while it’s true some folks make money, the vast majority do not and cannot.
Anyway, I had already sent him a reply to a previous email that I have no interest in network marketing, but like so many gurus, I’m guessing he doesn’t actually read the email, he just files it. After all we signed up to be on his list to make him money, right?
Well, the other day he sends me an email to check out an opportunity. And what do you know, its an MLM opportunity. His email instructed me to reply with either a 1-no interest, 2-some interest and have some questions, or 3-absolutely interested and ready to run with it.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt and watched the video link and sent a reply that I was a reluctant 2, being somewhat interested and attached four basic questions. Well, he never replied to the email, big surprise, but I did receive a phone call at my home from his upline at this MLM opportunity.
I couldn’t believe it. This guy gave my private information to a MLM company as a hot lead. Without my permission!!
You should really expect that from him, because he did what all scammers do, he did what was expedient for him. Because it’s all about him and you are just a lead to make him money.
Because of his breach of trust and our agreement, I went to his last email and clicked the unsubscribe link.
One of the features of aweber has is to ask you why you’ve unsubscribed from this list to give the list owner an opportunity to fix a wrong or improve their service.
I simply wrote “It was time.”
And do you believe this “guru” wrote me back saying…
Yes it was time.
I couldn’t believe this guy would be so arrogant and petty to respond like this for leaving his list. But I recalled his background as collection agent and reformed spammer. He only esteems himself and holds others in low regard all the while espousing his christian conversion. Unless of course, you are buying from his offers.
So, I attempted to let him understand a little more clearly why I left.
Why did you send this to me? Yesterday, you gave my name and phone number to someone that I didn’t agree for you to share it with. I figured that I should just part ways with you after that breach. Your response to my leaving your list confirms that I made the right choice.
I honestly thought this would be the end of it. But again this petty “guru” had to reply with his self serving arrogance…
Roy…As much as you have purchased from me the last couple years I think I can survive without you being on my list.
You see folks, I’m not kidding when I say this guy has you on his list for one purpose, to make money from you and it’s why he’s always going to be an insignificant little “guru” wannabe.
My advice, steer clear of Matt Laclear.

Great reporting effort. Though you omitted the portion of the email conversation in which you challenged my faith and purposely baited me for a response in which you were all to ready to print here on your blog.
As far as me giving your name and phone number out as an mlm lead is incorrect. You sent me an email with questions and my partner who was sitting right next to me at the time called you to answer your questions.
Given the fact your comments regarding our exchange is inaccurate and incomplete I am having my attorney Marty take a look at your post to see if in fact you are guilty of libel. If you are I am quite sure you will be hearing from him shortly.
I do admit however calling you an insignificant little worm. Which being a Christian I must apologize for as in His creation none of His creations are insignificant. And that also pertains to worms too.
So for that you have my apologies.

Wow, talk about a surprise visit. With the small amount of traffic this site gets, I can’t believe you bothered to post here. Goes to show what a petty little “guru” you are.
Matt, I left off my “It’s all about you christian boy. Last email. Glad to be gone.” because this post said the same thing. Did you think I was misrepresenting you? I’m not under any obligation to provide your side of a story. It’s my prerogative to write what I want on my blog.
Does that omission somehow justify your actions? I guess it would to someone like you.
I did not hesitate to call your faith into question throughout this article, so where is the hypocrisy on my part.
Your threat of legal action over a post on an insignificant little worm’s blog is laughable and does more to demonstrate your character than all the professing in the world.
I’m fairly certain that even in your corner of Michigan, this post can hardly be called libel. Libel? Do you even know what it means? Nothing I said was false.
You did give my number to your “partner” as admitted by you, you did call me an insignificant little worm, as admitted by you. You did everything else I said in the article, so where are the false statements? Granted your reputation is sullied, but you chose the road we are on and escalated the discourse. And even more surprisingly, continue to do so. If you don’t like the things I’ve said, you may want to consider your actions and choose a different course of action next time.
I look forward to a call from Marty, you’ll probably provide my phone number to him also.
I notice that my blog is being inundated with spam attacks….coincidence? Probably.

Matt LaClear strikes again…if anyone has time or even wants to… take a look at my blog about the same type of interaction that I had with Matt LaClear and his so-called hook ups…and just in case marty calls… you got another person on your side that will back you up…
Matt if you are reading this… yeah we all need money…but it is not always about money!
Zig Ziglar said it best…”if you help enough people get what they want…you will get all that you want” …quit chasing the dollar and let it come to you bro… btw I never got that call from your lawyer either…I was waiting.

Hilarious. Matt Le Clear is the worst. His true colors show through by the venemous replies he leaves on these blogs-professional isn’t it? He’d rather insult people with his nastiness then find out how he can make a wrong into a right. The Michigan D.A. needs to see how much is on the net about this guy and his bad business practices whether it is spamming people or putting their private info on MLM lists or sending them porn sites. His name is dirt among Realtors and I recommend steering clear of him.

Thanks for dropping by.
Needless to say, I agree 1000%.
One of the funniest things I learned during this whole ordeal is that the photo he uses on all his stuff is not even him, he used a model’s image.
How funny is that?
I never heard from him again or his cracker jack attorney. I guess he learned what "libel" was.
Thanks for stopping by.
