The FortuneSeeker Tip of the Day:

Run as fast as you can from the simplistic, get-rich-quick internet marketing courses or ebooks so prevalent online today.

Their distinguishing mark is the absence of difficulty.

The fact is, running your business will be hard work and at times it will knock you around and will definitely require a sacrifice on your part.

FortuneSeeker Spotlight: Ken McCarthy

July 15, 2008 By: admin Category: Mentor Reviews

Funny thing about the internet. There can be a whole world of things going on right under your nose and you can be totally unaware of it. That’s the way I see how a guy like Ken McCarthy can be teaching fundamental principles of online marketing since the early nineties and me being totally unaware of him.

I’ve been pretty active online since the BBS days when I dialed in to a message board with my 9600 baud modem, I know a  real screamer. I thought I knew who all the players were.

Anyway, maybe I’m the last guy to know, but I only recently became acquainted with Ken McCarthy and thought some others might like to know more about this guy.

I’ve been getting emails from him for the last few months after signing up to learn more about his System Seminar. This is a seminar he holds once a year and the folks that go through it swear its the best thing they’ve ever done. Personally, I couldn’t swing the almost $3 grand to attend, but wish I could have.

I’ve been amazed by the quality of his autoresponder emails and because of that I don’t mind the frequency. They’ve been coming pretty often since I bought one of the products he offered, so I guess he’s trying to strike while I’m in a buying mood or something. Classic marketing technique.

If you are serious about succeeding in Internet marketing, here’s a simple formula you need to master:

DMS + IKH = MAM

Let me break it down for you:

DMS = Direct Marketing Savvy

IKH - Internet Know How

MAM = Massive Amounts of Money

The only way you can mess up in Internet marketing - the ONLY way - is to be missing DMS or IKH or both.

To make it in Internet marketing and to enjoy the same kind of success stories you read about online, you need to have both sides of the equation nailed down solid.

The good news: It’s not rocket science.

That little tidbit is something you should chew on for a little while, because you have just been exposed to the simple plan for succeeding online.

And to top it off, Ken has put together a training program called System Smart Beginners. Check it out for yourself and while your at it do yourself a favor by getting on his mailling list. The wealth of information he gives you is well worth it.

On a side note, I was pleasantly surprised that he didn’t once mention John Reese’s newest venture. I can’t tell you how many folks dusted off their email lists and sent me a “buy from me” link. Seriously, I have at least two dozen in my deleted folder.

Ken McCarthy is the real deal.

John Reese, I apologize for everything I’ve said about you.

July 14, 2008 By: admin Category: John Reese

I just spent the last 1-1/2 hours watching John’s newest video series for trafficsecrets2.0 and to say the least, I was blown away.

Now, those of you that have been around here awhile, know that I always respected John Reese, he’s one of the few teachers I could point to as true. However, when his blogrush widget came out, and my blogs were rejected, I deleted all the widgets from all my blogs and removed any links to his Income.com site.

Childish, I know. Hindsight is a good teacher.

With the prevalence of BlogRush, (it’s hard to find a marketing blog that doesn’t have it), my rant against this has been proven wrong.

His redo of the original Traffic Secrets, is an update like no other. And totally against the grain of almost any internet marketing guru out there.

Income.com looks like it is a dream come true for anyone wanting to earn a living from home on the internet, don’t waste a minute and head over there and check out his pre-launch video series.

Go to Traffic Secrets 2.0 and watch the videos. I guarantee you’ll be impressed.

And John, just in case you happen by. You have my sincere apology.

I’ll be in line to buy the upgrade to morrow at 12:00noon EST.

Course Correction for the FortuneSeeker

June 10, 2008 By: admin Category: The FortuneSeeker

I’m afraid I wondered off course from my original intent of this log. Funny how easy it is to get sidetracked online.

When I first started this blog, it was my intention to deliver real content to help newcomers to the internet earn a living from the comfort of their homes. I saw it as a way for me to help families struggling to make ends meet. As a fellow victim to all the hypesters online, I wanted this site to be “a guide through the internet marketing jungle”.

In review, I see that the majority of my posts, although original, failed to offer anything of substance to someone wanting to earn a living online. Comments about the latest “guru du jour”, programs only helped to steer clear of potential problems, but didn’t offer any solutions.

I also didn’t like the clutter and noise, so I hope you appreciate that I removed the flashing ads.

I’m working on a series of posts and hope to make this fit my vision.

So stick around.

Web2.0 Directory

March 02, 2008 By: admin Category: Business Tips

I stumbled upon a really great resource called GoToWeb20.com. It is a directory of over 2100 web2.o applications and services.  It has a tag search feature to focus your search.

Just skimming I found a site on there called Youlicit. It’s kind of like Del.icio.us, Digg or Stumbleupon that helps users discover new sites based on the page they are already looking at.

Pretty cool, right?

Let’s say you are researching a woodworking niche. You enter “woodworking” in your interests and it finds sites you’ll love and not only that, you can then drill down deeper and deeper to find more specialized sites and sites like them. When you find what you are looking for, just click the “more like this link” and I guarantee you’ll love it too.

And that’s just one of the sites listed in the directory.

Check them out at GoToWeb20.com and be prepared to spend a couple of days if you want to look at all the sites.
